There Is Only One YOU
“There Is Only One YOU”
Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught to shrink.
We were told to tone it down. To not be too much.
Too emotional. Too different. Too loud. Too sensitive. Too you.
So we learned how to adapt. We started blending in. We adjusted our volume, filtered our feelings, and softened our dreams to fit someone else’s comfort zone. We tucked parts of ourselves away—not because we were ashamed of them, but because the world had convinced us they weren’t welcome.
And in doing that, some of us started to forget the very essence of who we are.
But let me say this clearly and without hesitation:
There is only one YOU.
One person on this planet with your exact perspective. Your precise mix of joy and heartbreak. The lessons you’ve earned through years of walking through fire and still choosing to show up. The way your mind works. The way your laugh fills a room. The way your heart breaks when someone else is hurting.
We spend so much time trying to fit in—into jobs, into relationships, into societal standards that constantly shift and never fully satisfy. We measure ourselves against highlight reels and hold ourselves to standards we never actually agreed to.
And yet... the real magic happens not when we fit, but when we stand. When we stop apologizing for our existence and start honoring our identity.
The world may try to shape you into something more palatable—easier to digest, easier to categorize. But that’s not where your power lives.
Your power is in the raw, unfiltered, honest parts of you.
The parts that love too deeply.
The parts that cry when no one’s looking—and sometimes when everyone is.
The parts that dream wildly, even when reality tells you to settle.
The parts that still show up with love after being broken.
If you’re like me, maybe you’ve felt out of place more times than you can count. Maybe you’ve sat at tables where you knew you didn’t belong, said yes when your soul was screaming no, or kept quiet when everything inside you begged to speak.
But hear this: your story is not too much. Your voice is not too loud. Your dreams are not too big.
And you? You are not too broken, too late, or too far behind.
You are exactly who you need to be—right here, right now.
And no one else can do what you were put on this earth to do.
So stop hiding. Stop shrinking. Stop apologizing for the space you take up.
Because there is only one YOU. And that is your greatest gift.
If you’ve been waiting for permission to live more fully, this is it.
Take up your space. Laugh loudly. Cry freely. Love deeply. Be fully and unapologetically yourself.
The world needs more people who are real.
More people who are brave enough to walk into a room and be honest about who they are.
More people who’ve learned that strength isn’t always loud—it’s often quiet, often gentle, and often forged in the quiet moments where we decide to keep going anyway.
So here’s your reminder today, from one imperfect human to another:
You were made with purpose. You were designed with intention.
And there is, and will only ever be, one YOU.
Don’t waste your life trying to be a copy.
You’re the original. And that is more than enough.
With grace, grit, and gratitude—
Dr. Nick
